Sharon Eyers, Middlesex Cricket’s Head of Children and Events commented...

"It’s been a busy winter on the Trophy Tour, but the reaction we’ve had when visiting clubs, schools and introducing the trophy into several of the cricket sessions we run, has been absolutely incredible.

“For these young children to have the opportunity to get their hands on the trophy and to meet the Middlesex players who helped the club win the title has been fantastic ,and if we’re able to provide these young cricket enthusiasts with lasting memories that will help to inspire their interest in the game and in Middlesex Cricket, then that has to be a good thing.

“We’ve still got plenty of other schools lined up to meet the trophy and of course we’ll be having the trophy with us in Pinky’s Pavilion throughout the summer months ahead, so there’s still plenty of other opportunities to get to see it. “

The feedback received from many of the children and teachers who’ve been lucky enough to meet the trophy so far has been wonderful, and here’s just a snapshot of what’s been said...

Karen Archibald, a year Five Teacher at St Pauls: “It’s fantastic to have the trophy come to the school and we hope this helps improve links between Middlesex Cricket, the school and Mill Hill cricket clubs to get more children playing the game.”

Donya a year Five Student said: “It makes me feel proud that Middlesex brought the trophy into our school.”

Holly Thompson, PE Coordinator at St Marys Hampton Primary said: “What a special occasion to have the trophy brought into school! The children were so excited to look at it and to find out how it was won. This will hopefully inspire them to achieve through sport. Well done Middlesex Cricket and thank you to Alex for leading a lovely assembly.”

Ella, a year One Student at St Marys Hampton commented: “The trophy was amazing”, whilst Mia, a Year Two Student added: “I was excited to see the real trophy.”

Mr Miller, PE Teacher at City Academy, who competed in the U13 Girls competition said:  ”I think it was a great opportunity for the girls to experience a fun format of the game and get to experience seeing the county championship trophy.”
