AB DE VILLIERS OPENS NEW NON-TURF PITCH AT DEPTFORD PARK WITH LCT

AB de Villiers opens non-turf cricket pitch in Deptford Park

Having only recently arrived in the country to join Middlesex for the first half of this year's Vitality Blast competition, AB de Villiers was right into the thick of the action yesterday, as he joined the London Cricket Trust (LCT) in Deptford park to open a brand-new non-turf cricket pitch.

The facility is one of fifty new cricket facilities being created between 2018 and 2020 around the capital city by the London Cricket Trust, working in conjunction with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

The London Cricket Trust is a registered charity, created by Middlesex, Surrey, Essex and Kent County Cricket Clubs, run by volunteer trustees, with the aim of 'putting cricket back into London's parks'.

De Villiers said...

"England's World Cup win will spark huge interest in the game, but the kids need somewhere to play, and that's why the LCT's work in providing new facilities is so important".

De Villiers will be making his debut in the Vitality Blast and for Middlesex tomorrow evening at Lord's Cricket Ground against Essex Eagles.
