We are delighted to announce that Middlesex Women’s cricketer Beth Morgan was today honoured with the Cricket Writers Club Women’s Cricket Award - in recognition of a record-breaking career that has seen the former England international become the only player to feature in every season of the Women’s One-Day County Championship.
Morgan has amassed a total of 3,336 runs in the 133 limited overs games she has played for Middlesex Women, at an average of 33.36, and has a further 750 runs to her name from 54 T20 appearances at an average of 24.19. With the ball she has taken 97 wickets for Middlesex at an average of 20.91
For her country Morgan has tasted success in every international format, playing in England sides that have lifted the ICC Women’s World Cup, the ICC Women’s World T20 and the Women’s Ashes. In total she has made 107 appearances for England Women across all three international formats.
Speaking of Beth Morgan being named as the winner of this award, Middlesex Women’s Head of Cricket, Danni Warren, commented:
“As a team-mate, Coach and Manager, Beth is the first cricketer I would have in my side.
“Throughout her career her determination and pride have left a mark with all who have been lucky enough to play alongside her. Ask any of the young players in the Middlesex side and they will tell you she is their role model, on and off the field.
“Her longevity is testament to the huge amount of work and commitment that she puts into her game - never satisfied and always striving to develop and improve herself.
“Everyone at Middlesex is extremely proud of what she has achieved for both ourselves and England, and know that she will continue to have a hugely positive impact on cricket for a long time to come.”

Chosen by a panel chaired by journalist and broadcaster Isabelle Westbury, this year’s award was given to Morgan after she extended her record for Women’s One-Day County Championship appearances. Morgan, who retired from England duty in 2013, has featured in every season of the Championship since its 1997 inception, and whilst also continuing to play for Middlesex Women, also coaches and mentors Middlesex players on a voluntary basis.
