MINI LORD'S ACTIVATION AT KIDZANIA LONDON PROVING A HUGE SUCCESS

MIDDLESEX CRICKET’S INDOOR ‘MINI LORD’S’ FACILITY AT KIDZANIA LONDON GOES FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH

In November 2017, Middlesex Cricket launched a ground-breaking indoor cricket facility at one of London’s most popular children’s tourist attractions, KidZania, in the Westfield London Shopping Centre, Shepherds Bush. Two years on and the facility is proving more popular than ever, as young cricket lovers in the capital, inspired by England’s brilliant ICC World Cup win in the summer, continue to flock to ‘mini Lord’s’ at KidZania.

The innovative facility, modelled on Lord’s Cricket Ground, Middlesex Cricket’s home since 1877, gives youngsters the opportunity to take part in cricket games and engaging skills challenges, under the watchful eye of a team of qualified coaches, all played in a downscaled replica version of the games’ most iconic stadium – the Home of Cricket.

Since launching, over 46,000 children have enjoyed the ‘mini Lord’s’ facility at KidZania and during the recent half-term break in late October, when Middlesex cricketers Nathan Sowter, Max Holden and Martin Andersson went along to KidZania to help coach the youngsters, over 900 children took part in the Middlesex Cricket activation.

So far in 2019, over 25,000 youngsters have taken part in Middlesex Cricket’s activation facility at KidZania, compared to just over 18,000 in the same period last year – an annual increase of almost 40 percent.

The popularity of Middlesex Cricket’s activation shows no sign of slowing up, and the introduction of new activities, like the ‘Super Over Challenge’, has helped to boost numbers as young cricket lovers try to emulate their heroes from the nation’s World Cup winning side.

With more youngsters flocking to ‘mini Lord’s’ than many of KidZania’s other attractions, Middlesex Cricket is delighted that the club’s ‘mini Lord’s’ activation continues to prove a huge success.
