£80,000-£100,000 depending upon experience

The Role

Middlesex Cricket, based at Lord’s, is responsible for cricket in the county, from Men’s and Women’s professional teams to recreational cricket for all ages within 17 London Boroughs that form the county of Middlesex. The role will involve providing financial leadership to the Club working alongside a small office team but with a high profile and 80+ staff. Alongside financial duties, the role will support the Club’s ‘Winning Together’ strategy and its Diversity & Inclusion agenda.

Principal responsibilities

• Day to day financial management for the Club, its subsidiary companies and related charities
• Ensuring consistency in the raising and recording of invoices and chasing prompt payment
• Managing and accurately recording all outgoing payments
• Production of annual budgets and forecasting (short term and long term)
• Cash flow management
• Production of monthly management accounts and quarterly forecasts
• Production of the annual financial statements and liaison with the auditors
• Oversight of monthly payroll including pension contributions and other deductions
• Liaison with the Club’s bankers, insurers, and professional advisers
• Playing an active role as part of the Senior Management Team
• Attendance and presentations at Board and Committee meetings

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• Significant operational finance experience and appropriate qualifications
• High degree of organisation and ability to prioritise workloads
• Ability to work to individual and team targets and be a team player

• Ability to adopt a positive customer service approach and communicate with key stakeholders
• Ability and willingness to operate at the highest organisational levels of professional cricket
• Prepared for varied working hours to reflect the needs of the business – some evening and weekend working will be necessary
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Interest in all aspects of the business – a demonstrable interest in cricket would be helpful
• Good general management awareness
• High energy levels
• Up-to-date DBS check will be required (assistance can be provided)
