VACANCY - FIRST TEAM COACH FOR MEN'S PROFESSIONAL TEAM

Job Title: First Team Coach - Men’s Professional Team

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

• Other senior management colleagues

Location: Lord’s Cricket Ground, with cricket related travel as necessary

Term: Fixed Term Contract

Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience

The Role

Middlesex Cricket, based at Lord’s, is responsible for cricket in the county, from Men’s and Women’s professional teams to recreational cricket for all ages within 17 London Boroughs that form the county of Middlesex. Reporting to the Chief Executive and working in conjunction with the Head of Professional Cricket Performance, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of the Professional Men’s First Team, including training and matches across both the winter and summer season. The successful candidate will be expected to add significant value to an effective club-wide culture, in line with the club’s ‘Winning Together’ strategy.

Principal responsibilities

• Prepare the team to compete in England Cricket’s 3 domestic competitions, in line with performance targets set by the Chief Executive Officer and Head of Professional Cricket Performance
• Create an environment where each individual can thrive and are able to achieve their potential
• Work collaboratively with the Club Captain and team captains to develop a successful playing strategy that maximises the strengths of the playing group
• Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure that the playing staff receive exceptional all-round support
• Produce effective, relevant and exciting Development Plans for each professional player to inspire their training and aid their improvement
• Contribute towards Recruitment and Retention decisions involving both playing and coaching and support staff members
• Provide progress reviews to the Executive Board and Professional Cricket Committee when requested
• Significant experience of creating and leading successful, elite cricket environments, specifically at county level or above
• Holds at least an ECB Level 3 coaching qualification, with those qualified to Level 4 or the overseas equivalent preferred
• Ability to build strong working relationships with players, and coaching and support staff
• High degree of organisation and ability to prioritise workloads

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• Expertise in one specific cricket skill discipline
• Experience in engaging analysts and interpreting data to maximise team and individual performance
• Desire to challenge themselves and those around them in the pursuit of excellence
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Up-to-date DBS check will be required (assistance can be provided)
