Established in 1827, Teddington CC is one of London’s leading clubs within the Middlesex Premier League. Our thriving playing membership boasts more than 70 adults and 500 juniors, with cricket played almost every day throughout the summer.In 2019 we opened our new state of the art Pavilion with full- time bar and catering available.We have a growing base of social members and use by the wider community. In the winter a football club runs junior football at the weekend and during term time a school plays football, rugby and cricket depending on the season.
Job Description
Full-time Head Groundsperson responsible for the provision of excellent sports facilities for the year-round sport played at Teddington CC, reporting to the Chairperson or nominated deputy.
Job Responsibilities
Sole responsibility for the preparation and maintenance in the summer of the main cricket square, the entire outfield, the non-turf net areas and together with part-time staff the preparation of the second square.In the winter sole responsibility for the football pitches and when requested a rugby pitch.
Prepare, implement and monitor weekly, monthly and annual maintenance programmes to ensure the required standard of surface presentation.
Have knowledge and experience of undertaking end of season renovations on cricket squares and outfield.
Maintenance to a good standard of the remainder of the ground, including the ground surrounds, the compound and the car park.
Estimate the resources required for work projects and to make recommendations on best use of playing surfaces, including production of a costed annual ground budget.
Have a developed awareness of Health and Safety regulations. Possess a sound understanding of legislation relating to chemicals and dangerous substances. Ensure safe working practices at all times.
Ensure all equipment is correctly maintained and serviced.
Manage the maintenance of and advise on improvements to cricket equipment (sightscreens, covers etc)
Maintain good communication with Cricket captains, Junior cricket managers, stakeholders and other members of the Ground Committee.
Personal Qualifications
The selected candidate will be self-motivated, have the desire to produce high quality wickets and outfield necessary for the high standard of cricket played at Teddington CC.As a minimum the candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
Completed IOG training level 1&2 and working toward IOG Level 3 training on management techniques and principles to produce a safe and consistent surface.
PA1 and PA6 spraying certificates.
Understanding of the games of cricket and football.
No less than 5 years prior groundsperson experience, involving the preparation and maintenance of cricket squares and outfields.
Clear understanding of relevant Health and Safety legislation.
Formal training in manual handling and risk assessment.
A valid driving licence and basic IT skills
IOG membership holder.
General Conditions of Employment
Weekend work will be required during the cricket season (April-September), in particular Saturdays and Sunday mornings, with a reduced number of hours during the winter months
Salary:
Based on GMA recommended salary scales for Groundsperson Skilled / Sole Charge Criteria.
